Senior React Developer

Engagement: Full-time contract
Location: Remote (US-based only) — US citizenship required

Summary

Virtasant is partnering with a major US public-sector program via a leading systems integrator to enhance a production workflow orchestration application. You’ll integrate directly with the client’s engineering team (not a greenfield or standalone project) to modernize the front end, elevate UX, and ship high-quality features against real user needs. No security clearance is required; standard client onboarding applies.

What You’ll Do

- Lead modernization of a React 18 + TypeScript interface for a production web app.

- Design and build interactive, data-driven experiences (e.g., graph/flow-style UIs).

- Translate design intent into accessible, performant components and patterns.

- Collaborate closely with a Python/API partner to shape API contracts and integrations.

- Uphold front-end quality bars (Jest, React Testing Library, ESLint) and CI workflows.

- Diagnose and improve rendering performance, state management, and perceived latency.

- Contribute to incremental UI/UX improvements within an existing codebase and team rituals.

What You’ll Bring (Must-Haves)

-5+ years professional front-end engineering with React (v18+) and TypeScript.

- Demonstrated UI/UX sensibility (can critique flows, propose improvements, and ship them).

- Experience building interactive, data-rich UIs (diagram/graph/flow or comparable complexity).

- Strong API integration skills and familiarity with backend constraints.

- Solid testing discipline (Jest, React Testing Library) and code quality (ESLint).

- Proven success joining and improving an existing React codebase.

- Excellent communication; comfortable integrating into a client’s team.

- US-based and US citizen.

Nice to Have

- Experience with design systems and accessibility-first development.

- Familiarity with performance profiling, bundle optimization, and state machines.

- Background in workflow tools, data visualization, or enterprise UI modernization.
